The gallery has now moved nearly all of its items to a secret storage location with a small selection still in the process of being securely and safely transported. Galleries and museums across Ukraine have been moving their artworks and historical items into storage, in advance of any possible rocket strikes or other military action. In a statement, the Borys Voznytsky national Gallery said:"War is not only physical murder and destruction, but also a moral attack to culture. We are making every effort to preserve and create cultural initiatives and institutions which lead Ukrainian society and the entire democratic civilisation forward".
